Lap dogs, Chihuahuas, and other small dogs, are filling up shelters in Los Angeles and all over California. Shelter operators think movies like Beverly Hills Chihuahua are partly to blame. People watch the film, want one of the dogs -- but only for a short time -- and then drop them at a shelter. Heigl to the rescue. She paid thousands of dollars to have dogs shipped from Los Angeles to Nashua, N.H., where they arrived Wednesday night. Saturday they go up for adoption. Fans of Romancing the Stone--which includes pretty much everyone raised in the 80s-- are assuming the worst today, having heard the news over at Pajiba that Robert Luketic is likely to direct the remake of the 1980s film. The jump-to-conclusions is that Luketic would cast the stars of his last film The Ugly Truth in the lead roles, meaning that the duo of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner would be replaced by Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl.
It is always refreshing to see celebrities using their fame and money for good causes. Case in point-- Katherine Heigl. The Grey's Anatomy star runs a charitable organization called the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation (named after her late brother) along with her mother that works to help animal rescue efforts.
